Presidents Ponderings:

Hi All,

Thank you all again for a great club meeting and a very professional and engaging AGM. It was wonderful to have so many members in attendance to help shape the future of our club. I’m honoured and humbled to have been provided with the opportunity to lead the club as President for another 12 months and thank everyone for your confidence and support. I’m also very excited with the succession plan and would like to congratulate incoming President-elect - Grant Austen; President-elect designate, - Josie Wilson; Incoming Treasurer – Alan Chalmers & Incoming Secretary – Greg Peck and thank you for your commitment to the future of the club and its members. Thank you also to AG Geoff Young for facilitating the meeting on behalf of the club. Your support is always appreciated.

While it's always important to plan for the future we also have quite a lot of activity happening within our club as we head into the festive season.

This weekend is one of the clubs busiest as we kick off Saturday with a 6.00am BBQ as part of the railway crossing removal project, moving onto the Pakenham Cup for our annual buggy driving support and trailer raffle ticket sales before we finish the day running the BBQ at the annual Carols by Candlelight event. Phew, I’m getting tired just thinking about it. Thanks again for everyone’s involvement and enthusiastic support. These activities don’t happen without the passionate people of Rotary and with the great support of Inner Wheel as well.

The grade 6 awards have now begun with the majority of them occurring over the next 2 weeks. It’s always a pleasure to present these awards to the potential Rotarians of the future (while also profiling our club to the parents & schools in our area). The number of schools keeps increasing and we even had some last minute nominations come in this week from new schools. Keep up the great work and don’t forget to take some pictures.

The trailer raffle is on track to be one of our best ever, with 2 weeks to go let’s make sure we help out wherever we can. If you can find some time to assist please let Tim know so that we can fill all the gaps on the roster.

Our special guest this week will be Natalia & Mariah, who were our representative for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) this year. I’m looking forward to hearing about their experiences and we should all be proud to be able to provide these opportunities to the young people of our community. Great work Josie on organizing and driving this project for the club.

You will notice the first of our “50 Things about Rotary” in this week's scribe. We’ll look at having an interesting update every week to inform, engage and empower everyone to go out and to be the inspiration!
