Last week's meeting on the 17th of July was an interesting night as we had the privilege to have Jeff Steel present to us about one of the books he has written.

Jeff is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Knox, a Past Assistant Governor of District 9810 as well as a Past Member of the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley, and he has even had his singing and banjo playing aired at a Rotary Conference.

Jeff talked to us about the Lofoten Raid ( Lofoten Islands, Norway ) which involved the 3rd and 4th Commandos and approximately 400 soldiers.

The Raid was really to try and obtain an Enigma Machine but all they got was a set of Rotor wheels and the code books which was enough for Bletchley Park to break the code for the German U Boats.  No one really knew what the true purpose of the raid was and so there has always been a variance of opinion as to it s true worth,

Jeffs talk was really interesting and even more significant as the raiding party included Bill Adlam who was Rotarian John Antonie's partner Linda Nash's father.

Once again we had the Jokers Wild and of course every one was so disappointed when Sam failed to find the Joker, or were they??
