Presidents Report March 18 th

Hi All,

Well, we are half way through a very busy month again. We started this month with the Rotary Club of
Pakenham Maiden Plate Race, followed by our regular community dance. Then last Friday we supported
Bendigo Bank’s ‘Tee Up For Kids’ BBQ and then on Saturday we assisted the Pakenham Show with their
Wally Wombat Trail. In between all this we are also doing a complete makeover on Millhaven Lodge’s
new Gallery Corridor. All this of course would not happen if it was not for all the wonderful support that
you, the Pakenham Rotarian’s have so generously given. Thank you, everyone again for stepping in and
helping when and where you can.

On Tuesday I was honored, with all the other Rotary Presidents in Victoria to visit the Governor of
Victoria, Linda Dessau at her official residence Government House. P.P. Lyn Bunce, P.E. Goran and
Secretary Grant accompanied me there and we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon eating freshly made
sandwiches and cakes and viewing some rooms and gardens at Government House. The event was to
acknowledge Rotary’s International President Ian Riesling being a Victorian Rotarian.

At last week’s meeting James Nicolas gave us a very interesting talk about his family’s history and how
the ‘Kew Fairyland House’ was connected to his mother. James also had his book “The Mystery of
Fairyland, Kew” on hand for members to purchase which gives the full story of a special place for
children to visit during the late 1940s thru to the 1960s. Grant thanked James for his talk and remembered going
there when he was living in the area.

The Joker is still in the pack, better luck next time Peter.

Yours in Rotary,
Greg.
