Presidents Ponderings:

Hi All,

It was wonderful to get back to a regular club meeting and great to see so many attendees. The return of Sergeant at arms, Graeme Begg, was very well received & it is certainly looking like the fines tally might be very healthy this year. Thank you again to Sam Biondo for filling in admirably, your efforts are very much appreciated.

Great work from Peter van Diemen reviving memories of the great contribution & impact the White Elephant sale had on the club and the community. I’m sure there are many, many stories that could be told about that time but the resounding feeling I get is that it was always a fun and exciting time for everyone involved.

Unfortunately the “Ace of Diamonds” wasn’t enough for Grant to take out the jokers wild this week, such a shame! It does mean that the jackpot is rising again to over $1300 approx. With only 52 cards left (???) anyone can win!

Congratulations to our guest speaker Doug Baxter from Sportism. Doug shared his story and journey in being able to provide an outlet and an opportunity for not only children with autism but anyone in a challenging situation to express themselves and just have fun. Well done to Doug and all your supporters on a very worthwhile endeavor.

Don’t forget that next week we have our esteemed District Governor, Janne Spiers, visiting our club. She will be accompanied by past DG, Charlie Spiers and our very own AG, Geoff Young. This night is a great opportunity to invite partners, friends and guests and allows us to highlight all the great work this club is involved in.

Coming up:

  1. DG Janne Spiers visit on the 21st August
  2. Bebutante Balls Friday 24th & Saturday 25th August.
  3. Jamie Fisher – Cardinia Cultural Centre Update – 28th August
  4. Roger Thornton & Greg Peck – Balibo Experience 28th August

Have a great week everyone.

Cheers

Goran
