Presidents Ponderings:

Hi All,

What a great meeting was had last Tuesday. We had the pleasure to host our District Governor, Janne Speirs & Past District Governor, Charlie Spiers as well as our own Assistant DG, Geoff Young. It was great to see so many member and guests attend the night. It really highlights the strength of our club.

It certainly is a busy period for us as highlighted by the great updates from our chairs and members. Our goal of getting back into the community is well and truly underway. Congratulations to everyone involved in the Big Boys Lunch.  It’s a big job and can’t be done without the support of all our dedicated members.

It was also very encouraging that the club supports the opportunity we have with the Le Pines Shopfront proposal. The next step is to set up a committee to co-ordinate the possibilities and put a plan in place. If you would like to be part of this exciting initiative please let myself, Grant or Greg know as soon as you can.

Listening to our DG, Janne discuss her goals for the district really highlighted how well our club is already leading the way. We are well on our way to raise our profile within the community, driving initiatives to raise the Public Relations aspect while focusing on all the things we already do well. Thanks Janne & Charlie for your words of wisdom and for your continued support.

The youth, community and International committees have a number of regular and new projects on the go and I’m very excited at the work the membership committee has underway. Our goal of 5 new members is looking very rosy. The Deb balls are going along extremely well, well done again to Geoff and the team for another outstanding effort. If you would like to be part of the committee for next year, please touch base with Geoff. You will have a ball (pardon the pun) and learn some new skills in the process.

Unfortunately this week the “Ace of Clubs” wasn’t enough for Tim to take out the jokers wild, everyone was soooo disappointed! It does mean that the jackpot is rising again to over $1400 approx. Good luck next week, you gotta be in it to win it!

Well done to everyone for a very strong start to this Rotary Year.

Coming up:

a) Jamie Fisher – Cardinia Cultural Centre Update – 28th August
b) Roger Thornton & Greg Peck – Balibo Experience 28th August
c) Wakeys Dance – 1st September

Have a great week everyone.

Cheers

Goran
